The practice conducted a patient survey between September - December 2008 in conjunction with CFEP-UK Surveys. The results can be summarised as follows.
475 patients completed questionnaires following their consultations. 88% of patients surveyed rated the practice as good, very good or excellent.
23 out of the 27 questions in the survey scored above the national mean with the greatest deviation above the mean for telephone access and the ability to speak to a practitioner on the phone. 4 questions scored below the national mean with the greatest deviation below the mean for “comfort of the waiting room”.
19 of the 27 qeustions in the survey show an improved score compared to our last survey in 2007. The greatest improvements are seen in a patient's ability to see the practitioner of their choice, and in the explanation given, and concern shown by the practitioner. The question on the comfort of the waiting areas scored less well than in 2007.
We have identified the following priorities based on the survey results.
1. To improve patient experience by addressing comfort of the surgery including waiting areas.
2. To improve access to to services by monitoring and developing our surgery access systems.
